Every year, we welcome incoming Black law students at our BLSA Back to School BBQ. This event gives us the opportunity to get to know the incoming 1Ls, while giving them the opportunity to speak with 2L/3L BLSA members, BLSA alumni, and GSU faculty and staff.

This year, GSU BLSA wants to increase our presence in the community by participating in more community service projects, social events and networking opportunities. We would like to provide our members participating in these events with apparel such as t-shirts, crew neck sweatshirts and even lapel pins for their professional attire as we represent GSU BLSA.

GSU BLSA understands the importance of proper guidance and support for our incoming 1L students. This year, we are providing mentors for all of our incoming Black law students. We have a series of social and educational events planned for our mentees to help ensure that they have the tools necessary for 1L success.

Throughout the year, GSU BLSA organizes panels and programs on a variety of topics. These BLSA sponsored events provide our members with the tools necessary to succeed in law school, and in the legal profession. This year, we also want to incorporate additional learning opportunities for our members including an Exam Prep series and a Bar Prep Bootcamp. We generally sponsor 2-3 events a month. The cost of food, educational materials, and parking for panelists for each of these events ranges from $250-$300.

In addition to providing educational opportunities for our members, GSU BLSA also sponsors several social and networking events throughout the year. These events give our members the opportunity to kickback and have fun while socializing with BLSA members, alumni, and supporters.
